WAKE up every day to serene views from this impressive Highton home perched on a 1710sq m allotment.

The pavilion-style four-bedroom house is minutes away from amenities but feels like a retreat worlds away with valley views and such a sense of space inside and out.

Vendors Binny and Tim built the striking house at 119-121 Rivergum Drive two and a half years ago.

They wanted their home to be all on one level and very simple, and engaged Topic Builders to bring their Palm Springs/Hollywood Hills design brief to life.

“The first thing that struck us when we were standing on the land was that the house had to be centred around maximising the view because it can’t be built out,” Binny said.

“We got quite ambitious in the way we set about designing the house – it was all about the views.”

And, the modest facade doesn’t give anything away.

It’s only when you step inside that you appreciate the amount of space on offer.

Oh, and as you might have guessed, the views are next level.

“You open the front door and then are smacked with the view across the valley,” she said.

“We get to see the You Yangs, the most beautiful hot air balloons at the weekend, and amazing rainbows from end to end, thunderstorms come rolling in – there’s always something to look at.

“Especially during COVID-19, it was exceptionally peaceful and beautiful to be able to look at the view even though we couldn’t go anywhere.”

Inside, the residence has a space for every occasion and is zoned to perfection.

Parents will love the main bedroom that’s set away from the others, with a luxe ensuite and walk-in wardrobe. (Binny said sleeping with the blinds open catches the sunrise).

There’s a guest room, study and play/TV room for the kids.

The kitchen showcases timber and stone accents and has a large walk-in pantry, while hydronic floor heating, refrigerated cooling and a wood fire feature in the open-plan living and dining zone.

Even the boat, trailer and caravan have a home at this address, and the plants in the landscaped backyard have been chosen to create a natural easy-care garden.

Other features include ceiling fans, ducted cooling and double garage with internal access and storage.

Binny said the family of four have well and truly caught the building bug and are keen to dig in to their next local project.

But, they’re going to miss their neighbours.

“We’re so upset, it’s really family-orientated here, we have street parties,” Binny said.

“The day we moved in, we had a box of choc chip cookies dropped off by the kids two doors down with a note saying that this is the best street in Geelong.”

The property is listed with price hopes of $1.5m to $1.6m.
