A Melbourne nurse left in "excruciating pain" on the road after a hit-and-run has pleaded with the driver to hand themselves in.

Shanne Doktor-Naron, 29 was walking to her car after her shift at Sunshine Hospital about 9.50pm on January 8 when a dark-coloured ute drove through the crossing and hit her.

"I hope that person gets a bit of conscience and turns him or herself in because he or she knows what happened," Ms Doktor-Naron told Nine News on Sunday.

The nurse said she was left in "excruciating pain" after the crash and was crying out for help.

"How could you leave someone for dead," Ms Doktor-Naron said.

"It could have been worse but I'm still here."

Victoria Police released CCTV footage of the dark grey vehicle in the hope someone can identify it.

The vehicle is believed to be a dark grey late model Ford XR ute and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
