Investigations are underway after a man died after the buggy he was driving plummeted down an embankment in Melbourne’s south-east.
A passer-by discovered the crashed buggy off a trail at the Oakleigh Public Golf Course in Mount Waverley about 10.50pm yesterday.
The 52-year-old driver’s body was found at the scene, but it’s unknown how long the man had been dead for.
It appears the buggy veered off the trail and over a concrete embankment into Scotchman’s Creek.
The creek runs through Mount Waverley, nestled in between the Monash freeway and Sadie Street.
“It’s used by lots of residents for exercise, biking and walking dogs,†local woman Suzanne Rowe told 9NEWS.
Nearby residents say they didn't hear any commotion in the lead up to the incident.
An associate of the deceased man said he was an irrigation worker who would often take his dog along the trail next to the creek.
Investigations are ongoing.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
