Queensland wedding boutiques have seen a rise in women choosing to tie the knot in the “naked dress”, showing off nude colours, corsets, bodysuits and precariously placed lace.

Despite the risque designer dresses covering very little, women can pay up to $12,000 for them in Brisbane bridal shops.

Wedding dress designer Ella Stephenson, who owns Milton boutique Ella Moda, said the trend proved women were feeling more confident than ever.

“We have definitely experienced a decline in the number of traditional wedding gown requests this year,” she said.

“I think we’re living in the most body-positive time of history and that has empowered women to break away from the traditional bridal mould.”

Norman Park’s White by Gossip Gowns manager Karen Endres said their most risque collection, by Israeli designer Berta, hits stores next month and range from $7000-$12000.

“They’re bold, very sheer and have built in body suits … they’re showstoppers with the wow factor,” she said.

“We put preview photos up on our social media and have already had women calling from Port Douglas to New Zealand wanting to get their hands on them.”

Former Sunshine Coast stylist and bride-to-be Ashlee Hill, 31, who now lives in London, chose an Ella Moda see-through gown for her wedding next month, and isn’t worried about family reaction.

She said they wouldn’t expect anything less.

“I wanted to be individual and stand out from the sea of boring white-dressed brides,” she said.
