A heavy police presence also gathered in the area around the intersection as Londsdale Street, between William and Spencer Streets, and also King Street, between Little Collins and Little Bourke streets, were closed.

The road closures has resulted in a spike in traffic in the area as motorists attempt to move around the CBD.
