A Gold Coast man who admitted to killing his mother nine years ago has been sentenced to a minimum four years and nine months in jail.

Daniel Paul Heazlewood was initially charged with murder over the death of Linda Sidon but last week pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was on Monday sentenced to a maximum eight years at Brisbane Supreme Court.

The body of the New Zealand-born 46-year-old woman, who was thought to have taken her own life, has never been found.
