WITH royal fever gripping the world, this new vacancy might be some people’s dream job.

Prince Harry’s long-serving private secretary is leaving the royal household, and the 33-year-old is looking for someone to take his place.

The job will involve travelling the globe with the prince and his bride-to-be Meghan Markle, helping the royal run the Invictus Games and assisting with his charitable work, including advocating for mental health.

The current private secretary Ed Lane Fox is leaving in the next few months, after five years working for Harry and helping plan the royal wedding next month.

Meghan, 36, has reportedly described Mr Lane Fox as a “godsend”.

A spokesman for Prince Harry said: “His Royal Highness is hugely grateful to Ed for his hard work during a period that has seen the launch and growth of the Invictus Games, countless tours around the world, and the detailed planning for next month’s wedding.

“Ed has led the creation of Prince Harry’s Private Office and the development of His Royal Highness’s work across a range of issues since leaving the Armed Forces. He has worked tirelessly, providing valued advice to Prince Harry and leadership of a growing team.”

The recruitment process to appoint Mr Lane Fox’s successor is ongoing.

Until someone is found for the position, Samantha Cohen will fill in as interim private secretary. Ms Cohen will shortly complete her tenure as assistant private secretary to the Queen after helping to deliver a successful Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Mr Lane Fox met Prince Harry during military duties before he went to work for a financial communications company as a senior associate.

He started working with the prince soon after Harry returned from a US tour, following the royal’s embarrassing gaffe when he was photographed naked in Las Vegas.
