LIKE something out of Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom, a gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex has gone up in flames at a US theme park.

Although not quite the exciting storyline that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are no doubt going to deliver when their dino-blockbuster hits theatres in June this year, the spectacular footage, which was posted online by witnesses, shows the animatronic dinosaur engulfed in flames.

Visitors to the Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience in Colorado got more than they bargained for, when the fire broke out at about 10.30am Thursday morning (Local time).

“We knew he had a temper, but today he blew his top,” said the park’s owner Zach Reynolds.

Believed to be from an electrical fault, the dinosaur smouldered for about 10 minutes before flames could be seen licking up the edges of its torso and at times making the dinosaur appear to be breathing fire (Daenerys Targaryen eat your heart out).

Guests watched on in amazement as the fire tore apart the 24-foot monster, one of 16 at the park’s ‘Wild Walk’ exhibit.

In no time at all, it was completely hollowed out after burning down to its steel frame.

“At least it made for some spectacular imagery along the way,” said Mr Reynolds.

The park are hoping to have a replacement installed in the coming months, but until then the mighty T-Rex will be out of action for the foreseeable future.
