Dozens of passengers were forced to evacuate a train in the Blue Mountains overnight after the roof caught fire.

The train was pulling into the station at Lawson at 10.45pm when the fire broke out.

NSW Fire and Rescue said five trucks rushed to the scene and around 60 people were evacuated.

Two people are believed to have been treated for minor smoke inhalation but no one was seriously injured.

Footage from the scene shows flames coming out of one of the cabins.

“Everyone was safe and evacuated,” witness Timothy Wells posted on Facebook.

“The police were fantastic. It was controlled and beautifully managed.”
