LAST year was a big year for sales in North Balgowlah’s Bangaroo St.

The street record was broken in September, when No. 80 sold for $3.025 million. But it didn’t stand for long.

In November, the house just two doors away at No. 84, sold for $3.05 million.

The suburb’s overall house sale price was also broken twice in 2017 — first in May with the $3.625 million sale of 2 Yamba St, and then in June with the $3.8 million sale of 5 Waimea St.

This suburb has well and truly traded its blue collar reputation for a blue ribbon status.

Last month it attracted headlines around Sydney when it emerged that North Balgowlah was the number one suburb for families within a 10km radius of the Sydney GPO. The results were part of a national report, compiled by mortgage broker Aussie Home Loans and property data specialist CoreLogic RP Data.

Wayne Blackley, of Blackleys Real Estate has long believed in the future of this suburb. He is marketing what be believes to be one of the best positioned properties in North Balgowlah.

It’s the first time 100 Bangaroo St has ever come to market, and it has been worth the wait, he said.

“It’s on the high side opposite the national park, it’s on a block of about 714sqm and has a 16.4m frontage,” he said.

“I think it gives plenty of options, to live in it, renovate or knockdown and rebuild.”

The two-storey home has plenty of open plan living, four bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as potential for self-contained accommodation.

The property goes to auction on March 3, at 12.15pm, with a price guide of $2,850,000. For more information contact Blackleys Estate Agents: Wayne Blackley, on 0419 905 073.
