Hit machine Chris Lynn has pledged his allegiance to his country over being a gun for hire despite being one of the most sought after players on the Twenty20 circuit.

The injury-prone Lynn has controversially shelved ambitions for the baggy green but says he remains committed to playing for Australia.

Lynn's earning capacity in  T20 was highlighted on the weekend when he was bought for $1.86 million by Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League player auction.

"It's a bonus, playing for your country is priority," Lynn said on Tuesday.

"Any time Aussie games come up that is a priority. It's a nice little wedge on the side. But with the IPL and T20 stuff around the world those opportunities you can't say no to them, they're life changing."

His comments came as head selector Trevor Hohns urged players to put country over Twenty20 riches.

Although Lynn said on Sydney radio this week that he enjoyed life in the Twenty20 leagues as it gave him more time to spend with friends and family, he has foregone a contract to play in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz, which clashes with the tri-series starting Saturday.

Lynn remains a player of considerable interest to national selectors despite his long injury history and unavailability to play in the Sheffield Shield. He was named in the one-day international squad for the recent series against England despite concerns over his fitness only to be ruled out injured and will be a key player in the upcoming T20 tournament.

Lynn, who rates himself as being at 60 per cent fitness, has been advised not to dive in the field and still has issues throwing but such is his hitting ability selectors want to see how he performs on the world stage.

"Batting's not an issue, which is a priority, but my confidence is down fielding at the moment," Lynn said. "The more games I play I'm going to get that confidence back. It is frustrating knowing I can't throw myself around because I always had that "go hard or go home" type attitude.

"It's killing me on the inside, but I know at least I'm on the field playing cricket now."
