Fremantle recruit Jesse Hogan may have suffered a recurrence of the navicular injury that sidelined him during last year's finals in the opening quarter of his first game against his former club.

Hogan was upset as he felt his foot on the boundary line after he landed heavily on the ground and immediately went down to the rooms.

He ran up and down the boundary line in an attempt to prove he was able to go back on the ground however he soon realised he was done for the day putting his tracksuit top on and sitting on the back row of the interchange bench.

The 24-year-old played 71 games with Melbourne, kicking more than 40 goals in a season in three of his four completed seasons at the club, before the Demons cleared him to the Dockers in exchange for pick six, which they used to secure defender Steven May.

He did not play in last year's finals series after the Demons diagnosed him as having suffered a partial stress fracture to the navicular bone during the round 21 match against Sydney Swans.

The West Australian, who joined Melbourne as a 17-year-old, has been in solid form with the Dockers this season kicking 13 goals in 11 games with his best thought to be ahead of him.
