Residents have started to evacuate their homes as an out-of-control bushfire bears down on the Shire of Donnybrook.

The fire started just after 2.30pm on Tuesday near Radiata Road, and was escalated to an emergency alert just after 7pm.

The warning is active for people in the central part of Southampton and an area bounded by Balingup-Nannup Road, Wetherly Road, Hay Road and Maidment Road in the central part of Southampton in the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup.

“You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes,” the alert said.
