Hewitt's management group also is expected to be involved in the talks with Tennis Australia, which has been placed in an awkward position, given that Tomic's attack has been timed with both Kokkinakis and Kyrgios due to play on Tuesday (Kyrgios plays Milos Raonic in the evening).

Australian tennis insiders noted that Tomic's attack on Hewitt was not helpful to either Kokkinakis or Kyrgios, given that they were playing on Tuesday and were certain to have to respond to Tomic's comment and faced the likely choice of either backing their team mate Tomic up or rejecting his comments on Hewitt.

"He doesn't put the players first from what I hear, in the last year he doesn't put the players first, he doesn't put Nick first, doesn't put Kokkinakis first, he thinks of himself and it is not good he is playing any more - you are retired I thought,'' Tomic also said in his post-match media conference.

At one stage, Tomic was briefly handled by Hewitt's management group W Sports & Media, which Hewitt has no stake in. It is owned by Adelaide lawyers Garry Winter and Dimitri Parhas.
