A Serbian court has ruled that two Australians arrested over a $500 million cocaine haul are to be extradited to Australia.

Prominent steel businessman Rohan Arnold, Canberra builder Trisan Waters and Arnold's businss partner David Campbell were arrested in a dramatic raid on a luxury hotel in Belgrade in January.

Three Australians arrested in Serbian drug bust

The Australians are suspected of being part of an international drug-smuggling group that tried to import more than a tonne of cocaine into Australia.

Police allege they were involved in the importation of 1280 kilograms of cocaine that was intercepted by authorities, concealed in steel on a Chinese container boat in Sydney last April.

The trio were arrested as they were allegedly in the middle of handing over a bag containing a pistol and $1 million in a mix of foreign currencies.

On Thursday, the Higher Court in Belgrade said that Mr Waters, 34, and Mr Arnold, 44, "met legal conditions" for their extradition, which was requested by Australian authorities.

Mr Waters, who ran a now-closed Canberra nightclub Minque, runs several property development and investment businesses in Australia and was entangled in the Australian Taxation Office fraud sting.

Mr Arnold and his business partner Mr Campbell, a former army member, previously ran a steel manufacturing business that went bust owing $11.5 million.

Mr Campbell, 48, from Murrumbateman in the ACT, remains in Serbia with his case pending.

Serbian authorities previously said Mr Campbell has been held on suspicion of possessing the unauthorised gun seized during the hotel raid.

Serbian media previously reported that Mr Waters is suspected of buying the cocaine and Mr Arnold is suspected of laundering money for Mr Waters.
