There's a secret ingredient hiding in the layers of your classic lasagna recipe - béchamel sauce. First, cook minced garlic and butter in a sauce pan. Then, add flour to make a paste. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps and simmer until the sauce thickens. Stir the mixture often at this point to keep it from scorching. Take the sauce pan off the heat and stir in grated parmesan cheese. As you assemble the lasagna, spread some of the béchamel over each layer of noodles, followed by marinara or meat sauce, more béchamel and shredded mozzarella. Continue layering until all the noodles are used.
