Perennial plants add color and interest to any home garden. Watch as BHG shares tips on how to plant perennials. The first step to planting perennials is to make sure the garden plant is in the right spot -- it's also important to plant them correctly. Begin by digging a hole for the plant -- the hole should be wider than you pot, but no deeper. Remove the garden plant from its container -- if you see any roots, it's important to loosen and spread them out. Next, place the perennial in the hole and fill in the soil around it. The top of the root bubble should stay level with the top of the soil. Finally, water your newly planted perennial well.
