Start spring early by planting bulbs in an indoor garden. Watch as BHG shares tips on when to plant bulbs indoors to add color to your home. Growing plants and flowers inside can be easy. The process starts in the fall. Purchase your favorite spring bulbs from your local garden center and plant them in flower pots with high quality potting mix. For a big display, layer smaller bulbs on top of larger bulbs in the flower pot. Water the bulbs then store in 40 degrees for 12 weeks. Places to store the bulbs include cellars, unheated garages, and refrigerators. Water the bulbs periodically. After 12 weeks, move planted bulbs to warmer temperatures and within 2 to 4 weeks, they will start to bloom.
