SchnauzerCam FAQ
Q: How old is Gretel?
A: Gretel is a four-year-old Miniature Schnauzer.
Q. Where does Gretel live?
A: Gretel lives with an AKC registered, reputable breeder in Florida.
Q. How many puppies is Gretel expecting?
A: She is expecting 6 maybe 7 puppies per x-ray. This is her fourth and last litter.
Q. How long does a dog go into labor?
A: 12 -- 24 hours with the onset of labor symptoms. Before giving birth a dog's temperature will drop. That's how you will know she is about to go into labor. Like people, dogs go through three stages of labor. Stage one is the longest at 6- 18 hours, when her cervix is slowly dilating. Stage two is active labor where her pups will be born every half hour or so. Gretel will lick her pups to stimulate them to breathe. All the pups will be born during this stage. Stage three is when the dog expels the placenta and any remaining blood and fluid from the uterus.
Mothers do take breaks in between pups so there could be a period of hours in between births.
Q: Is there a vet to keep an eye on the puppies?
A: Just like you, there is a veterinarian on-hand and watching the livecam throughout the birthing process. Thereafter, the puppies are under the constant supervision of trained professionals. We do not recommend that others support a litter of newborn pups without proper training, access to a qualified veterinarian, experienced professional guidance, and veterinary knowledge.
Q: What if I'm interested in adding one of Gretel's Schnauzer puppies to my family?
A: Please contact Maximilian Schnauzers via the website: http://www.maximilianschnauzers.com/
Q. What happens to Gretel after having this litter?
A: Gretel is retiring after she has raised this up coming litter and will be living with her forever family AND with one of her puppies in Sarasota, Florida.
Q: What if something goes wrong and a puppy gets sick?
A: A regular veterinarian is available 24/7 if an occurrence should arise where one would be necessary.
Q. What kinds of puppies are these?
A: These are a rare colored, miniature Schnauzer pups that originated from Germany.
