In Augie's life he has been fortunate and unfortunate. It is thought that his first year of life he wandered as a stray fending for himself and living off the hand outs of Good Samaritans. For many strays injury is a common occurrence. He was hit by a car that fractured his back leg. Unable to walk, he was found by the police department and turned in to the shelter who knew surgery to repair the leg would be costly. It was advised the he be euthanized. The director of the shelter, Augie, the namesake, refused to let that happen. He called the Westside German Shepherd Rescue who pulled him.
After extensive surgery, Augie has recovered. He survived living on the streets, being hit by a car, having leg surgery and has now found his forever home. This isn't the end. In fact, his life has only just begun.
Special thanks to Robin Jampol and the Westside German Shepherd Rescue.
