Dr Sirisha Singh on how to select a sunscreen for oily skin.
You can contact Dr Sirisha through her website http://theskincentre.in/
People with oily skin have a double problem in summers. UV rays and oily skin. Cream and lotion based sunscreens cannot be applied on the oily skin as they make the skin even more oily. In some cases applying sunscreen on oily skin can also cause pimples.
Gel based sunscreen can be applied on oily skin. Gel based sunscreens have a water base and do not aggravate the problem. But gel based sunscreens have their own problem. Some people who have oily skins also sweat a lot. Sweat reacts with gel based sunscreens and creates a white layer which looks odd.
In this case one can use a compact or translucent powder with spf. These are available in spf ratings of 20, 25 and 30.
