THE octagon is no place for the faint-hearted, and it looks like it won’t be a place for Paul Felder’s kids either because he’s going to have trouble conceiving any after this attack.

Edson Barboza has made a name for himself for possessing one of the most potent spinning kicks in the entire UFC, but his effort in Chicago on Saturday was surely one of his best.

The Brazilian muay thai specialist landed a vicious right foot into Felder’s groin, sending the 31-year-old straight to his haunches. Despite wearing a protective cup, the pain on Felder’s face was evident to everyone watching live and on TV.

To his credit though, the American took only a minute to regain his composure and get back into the action, not needing the full five minutes afforded to fighters who have been struck in the cup.

While Felder rebounded from the blow, he didn’t recover sufficiently to challenge Barboza for the win, as the 29-year-old claimed a unanimous 29-28 decision victory.

While that bout proved to be an interesting talking point, the big attraction for everyone at UFC on Fox 16 was the rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Renan Barao in which Dillashaw successfully defended the UFC bantamweight title, stopping Barao by technical knockout in the fourth round.

In the first round, Barao knocked down Dillashaw with a right kick. Later in the round, Dillashaw delivered a combination of jabs to the face of Barao.

Barao had a couple of quick takedowns in the second round, while Dillashaw was more effective landing punches. Dillashaw landed a right uppercut, and a quick combination at the end of the third round. The momentum carried over to the fourth round when Dillashaw had Barao pinned against the octagon where he landed a series of blows to the face of Barao before Herb Dean called the fight.

Dillashaw shocked the MMA world by taking the title away from Barao (35-3) at UFC 173 with a fifth-round victory in Las Vegas last year.

Their rematch was supposed to happen last August in Sacramento, but Barao was removed from the event after falling ill during his weight cut on the day before the fight. Dillashaw then had to fight Joe Soto, who was bumped up from an undercard fight. He beat Soto in the fifth round.
