HOUSING affordability issues mean more buyers are turning to the unit market instead of houses.
With plenty of new unit projects on offer around Australia, realestate.com.au has crunched the data and revealed the suburbs searched the most by unit buyers.
In New South Wales, Castle Hill has emerged as the number one suburb for buyers looking for new apartments in the March to May quarter.
The suburb, about 30km north west of the CBD, did not make it onto the list in the previous quarter. Other top searched suburbs included Parramatta and Meadowbank.
New projects in Castle Hill include Green Views an over 55s apartment development alongside a golf course.
Another project is Oakmont by Arden Property Group, which will have a selection of one, two and three bedroom apartments.

In Victoria, Melbourne once again emerged as the suburb which attracted the most searches for new apartments, followed by Southbank and a new addition to the list this quarter, Collingwood.
New projects currently taking registrations of interest include Queens Domain at 13 Queens Rd, Melbourne which will have one and two bedroom apartments and Opera at 450 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne.

In Queensland it was Brisbane city were buyers were most keen to find an off-the-plan apartment, knocking off coastal hotspot Broadbeach from the top spot.
In the previous quarter four Gold Coast suburbs featured in the top ten, but Broadbeach and Robina, were the only entries this quarter and both were further down the list.
West End, and South Brisbane also ranked highly with those looking to buy new apartments.

In Western Australia, East Perth pushed itself to the number one suburb for those on the hunt for a new apartment.
The suburb jumped from seventh position in the previous quarter helped in part by two prominent projects attracting buyers across the state.
Perth and Subiaco were the second and third most popular areas, with Fremantle and Carine dropping out of the top ten this quarter.
New projects in East Perth include Queens Riverside, at 2 Moreau Parade, East Perth where apartments are priced from $695,000.
