IT MIGHT not be “dadda†but radio host Hamish Blake appears almost as happy with his son’s first uttering.
“Beer, beer, beer,†13-month-old Sonny chanted when Blake asked him what he felt like drinking.
“Do you want a coffee?†his father asked in a prerecorded segment, played on air on Wednesday.
“Beer, beer, beer,†young Sonny replied.
The famous first words were uttered while the family were holidaying in the Maldives a few weeks ago.
“There was high hopes amongst the fathering side of his parents that ‘dad’ was his first word ...(but) then I noticed a word really started popping up, maybe from my vocab,†Blake explained.
Co-host Andy Lee agreed the auspicious vocals were “a great first wordâ€.
“And when he grows up to be the Australian cricketer that we know he will be and the team is still sponsored by VB, it will just be a wonderful ad for him to just flash back to,†Blake added. Lee was quick to compare Sonny’s babbles to his father’s drunken antics.
“It sounds just like his dad when he’s had too many,†he added.
2Day FM’s star recruits have returned to the drivetime slot at the station this week.
Their return to the air waves comes one week earlier than the other networks — which are on survey break — and is seen as a strategy to pick up some listeners before the school holidays end.
It’s been five years since the duo presented the drive show full-time for the station.
They’ve reportedly been paid $4 million each to make the return.
