A GIRL who ran in front of a car on her way to kindergarten remains in a critical condition in Princess Margaret Hospital.

The driver was unable to avoid hitting the four-year-old child and wasn’t believed to be speeding at the time of the accident on Thursday morning.

The accident happened near Davallia Primary School at the corner of Davallia Road and Trenton Way at about 8.51am.

The young girl and her mother were heading to her kindergarten class which was just a few hundred metres away.

The girl suffered serious head and leg injuries in the accident.

Members of the public, including an off duty nurse, provided assistance before paramedics took the girl to Princess Margaret Hospital under priority.

She remains in a critical condition.
