TERRIFYING video has emerged of two girls who were forced to jump out of a third-floor window from an apartment fire and into the arms of rescuers below.
The incident occurred at the Morgan’s Landing Apartments off Roswell Road in Sandy Spring in Atlanta, Georgia in the US.
Police first went knocking on every door to ensure no one was left inside.
Moments later, large flames suddenly exploded and shot out of the apartments.
Local neighbours heard banging and screaming from one of the windows, where a young African-American girl first appeared through a broken window pane.
They ran up to her, and told her to jump out. Seconds later, she jumped headfirst through it and they caught her as she came down.
Another African-American girl then jumped out of the same window to safety.
Deigo Silva told WXIA-TV: “I heard someone banging on the window — you could see the window all broken, so we just ran over there and helped them out,†he said.
The fire destroyed the apartments, leaving 29 people in 11 families without a home.
While the cause of the blaze was still unknown, Sandy Springs authorities were still investigating the incident.
