THE microwave has been given a reboot after more than five decades, with a US manufacturer claiming it has finetuned the kitchen staple.
The “reinvented†appliance, which is still in the testing stages, has been revamped by Freescale Semiconductor, Business Wire reports.
The makeover includes improvements to heating capabilities to stop food from drying out, being over cooked, reducing moisture and saving energy, using a “solid radio frequencyâ€.
The revamp would enable the microwave to brown food, poach it and even bake.
No on-sale date has been set for Freescale Semiconductor’s rebooted microwave as it’s still being tested.
