TASSIE contestant Amy Luttrell became MasterChef’s latest victim tonight.
The 29-year-old hairdresser was sent packing after falling short with her seafood dish — Lemongrass Coconut Malaysian Curry with Squid Noodles.
Following Wednesday night’s mammoth BBQ challenge, Amy was pitted against Matthew, Jessie, Billie, Ashleigh and Georgia in the fight to stay in the game.
With British guest chef Rick Stein on board, it came down to just Jessie and Amy, both who had served up undercooked seafood.
Unfortunately, a last-minute addition of squid tentacles to her dish and her thick and grainy curry sauce was enough to seal the deal.
“It appears to me we have a problem,†Matt Preston commented after sampling Amy’s creation.
News.com.au caught up with Amy after being eliminated. Here’s what she had to say.
What would you have done differently in your final challenge?
“I would probably create a smoother curry paste and maybe sieve it before I put it through the squid noodles ...â€
Your favourite MasterChef moment?
“My best moment on the show would probably have been seeing Maggie Beer walk through those doors. I can’t get past that, that was amazing.â€
The most difficult feedback you received?
“The worst feedback that I got during the competition would have been Gary’s feedback on the pastry in the team challenge for the afternoon tea ... to receive bad feedback on that alone is pretty tough to take.â€
Best advice from the judges?
“One piece of advice from the judges that sticks with me ... is to cook within yourself. To cook what you love to eat and keep it simple and actually respect that food for what it is.â€
What surprised you most about yourself on the show?
â€The long team challenges and how you function through that, like the bakery challenge or the BBQ challenge. You just have a task to do and keep pushing and pushing to get that task done.â€
What did you miss most?
“My family and my husband and my beautiful dog.â€
What have you learnt about yourself?
“Definitely resilience. To keep pushing even though you’ve hit a wall. You’ve always got that next step and you’ve always got more to give.â€
Who will take out MasterChef season seven?
“I think Reynold has a really good chance and maybe Georgia.â€
With just eight contestants remaining, we’re quickly reaching the business end of the competition of season seven. MasterChef continues Sunday night, 7.30pm on Ten.
