A former Wendys master franchisor has gone into administration, which could cause some Wendys ice cream stores across Australia to close.

Corporate recovery company Ferrier Hodgson has taken charge of the affairs of Wendy’s Supa Sundaes Ltd, which was established in South Australia in 1979.

Singapore-based company Supatreats Australia bought out the Wendys brand a year ago and will continue to act as the master franchisor for most of the 200 or more stores across Australia and New Zealand.

Individual stores that haven’t reached an agreement with Supatreats will no longer be able to trade under the Wendys brand.
