IT SEEMS Married At First Sight’s Lachlan McAleer has quickly become Australia’s most eligible Bachelor.
The likable farmer, who revealed during Tuesday night’s A Current Affair exclusive that he and ‘wife’ Clare are no longer together, joined social media 24 hours later and is already being inundated with date requests.
The 36-year-old’s Instagram account has already racked up close to 4000 followers and single ladies — and lads — have been commenting on his photos, leaving their phone numbers and suggesting he take a look at their profiles.
One follower posted: “You are amazing. Would love to meet you!! What a top bloke!!â€
Another excited single commented on the below photo of Lachlan with his pet pooch Snoop Dogg: “You should be swimming in offers and invitations. And so you should be. One thing you won’t have a lot of now is time ... But if you do find a minute or 2 have a sneaky look at my profile ... Hopefully we can meet / chat soon (getting ahead of myself) If not ..... I hope you find your princess that will sit by your side under the veranda for many years to come.â€
It appears Lachlan’s Facebook account has also been flooded with date offers. The cattle farmer wrote on his wall this morning: “ACA interview went well yesterday, got a few inboxes but another busy day on the farm, so I’ll try and respond when I get a chance.â€
It’s been a whirlwind week for Married At First Sight fans. After Monday night’s season finale wrapped, Lachlan and Clare had decided to stay together, only to reveal during ACA’s follow-up the next night that it hadn’t worked out for the controversial couple.
Lachlan said that he and Clare, 37, remained together for several months after the show finished filming last year, but decided to part ways and still remain friends.
“I’m still in contact with Clare, we’re still friends, we caught up a couple of weeks ago,†he said. “I think it is hard when you do form a bond with someone as well to maintain a very close friendship.â€
Known for her numerous tantrums and fiery nature, Lachlan came to Clare’s defence during the interview, saying there is also a “very caring, loving†side to his TV wife that wasn’t shown on the series.
He admitted that he is “lonely†on the farm and is still eager to find a special someone: “It definitely does get lonely and everything said and done, at the end of the day you’re sitting out here on your own at night.
“Occasionally friends come over but you’re still going to bed solo and that’s the hard thing for me.â€
Before Married At First Sight finished airing on our screens, Lachlan spoke to news.com.au about life after the dating show. He teased that he is “happy at the momentâ€, adding, “I’m very glad I signed on [to the social experiment], definitely no regrets at all.
“You get to learn a lot about yourself, it’s definitely changed my life.â€
Judging by the amount of interested parties, Lachlan may not remain a bachelor for too much longer.
