FORMER child star Jake Lloyd — who played a young Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars — has schizophrenia and attacked his mother just weeks before crashing his car during high speed police chase.
The 26-year-old, who appeared in 1999’s Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, was spotted driving erratically through Charleston this week, prompting police to pursue his vehicle.
Now his mother Lisa Lloyd has revealed he has battled schizophrenia since he was 19 and physically attached her in March while he wasn’t taking his medication, TMZ and Daily Mail are reporting.
The Indianapolis Metro Police Department was called to an address on March 26, TMZ.com reports, where Lloyd was said to be “yelling†at his mother and “knocked her downâ€, leaving her with bruising on her arm.
Charges weren’t laid and his mother said he was “not a violent personâ€, according to TMZ.
This week Lloyd reportedly refused to pull over and continued attempting to evade police by allegedly overtaking other cars at high speeds as he crossed into another county.
He lost control of his vehicle and smashed through a fence into a wooded area, where he ploughed into several trees.
Lloyd was arrested on charges of reckless driving, failure to stop, resisting arrest and driving without a licence, and is currently being held in custody, according to TMZ.com.
