A man has been charged over the stabbing of a good Samaritan in Melbourne's north.
Kane Anthony Larsen, 42, is accused of stabbing a good Samaritan who chased him down after he snatched a woman's handbag from the front seat of her car in the car park of Preston Market on Murray Road on June 12.
He allegedly left the victim – a 37-year-old Preston man – with serious injuries to the side of his chest and hands.
Police on Tuesday released CCTV footage and images of a shirtless man with a knife stashed in the back of his jeans, who was seen in Preston about the time of the incident.

Mr Larsen, of Hawthorn, was arrested hours later.
He has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury, theft and assault with a weapon.
He is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday.
