HE WAS meant to put his Sutherland Shire home under the hammer tomorrow night, but soccer champ Tim Cahill has scored with an early sale.
The Socceroos star’s waterfront family residence in Caringbah South sold through Greg Gilbert of Greg Gilbert Real Estate for an undisclosed amount.
Cahill bought the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home back in 2006 for $5.25 million.

INSIDE TIM CAHILL’S FAMILY HOME
According to Core Logic RP Data figures, the 12-month median house sale price for Caringbah South was just $1.23 million — just a fraction of the estimated cost of the sport star’s glamorous pad.
The most paid for a home in the suburb, which has been a favourite with sports stars including Shane Watson and Lee Furlong who sold there for a reported $3.9 million last year, was $8.5 million, paid late last year for a five-bedroom house on 4600sq m.
Now living in China after Cahill signed a $10 million deal with Shanghai Shenhua, the famous footballer, his wife Rebekah Greenhill and their four children have not called the 1260sq m pile home for years.
“Obviously not many people have known about this house,†Cahill told the Sunday Telegraph last month.
“It’s where I used to go if I got injured to do my rehab quietly, go fishing, or just chill in the cinema room and not leave the house, especially when I had big tournaments or games,†he said.
“No one knew I was there and there was no excuse to ever leave.â€
“The one thing I like about the home is being in my own exclusive area and not having to leave the house, which might sound boring, but that’s who I am,†he said.
“I’m not in the country often, so it’s more for practical reasons. A home like that is something for a lifetime and needs to be enjoyed properly with family.â€
