NSW State of Origin rugby league star Michael Jennings has been charged with offensive behaviour after a drinking session in Sydney’s west.
Police say a 27-year-old man was arrested and charged after he approached police in an aggressive manner early this morning, when they tried to speak to another man who was allegedly kicking a boom gate in Parramatta.
Sydney Roosters CEO Brian Canavan confirmed the charge with AAP, and said the matter had been reported to the NRL integrity unit on Saturday morning.
“We’re doing our own investigation,†Mr Canavan said.
He said he was surprised at the allegation, and said Jennings may have been celebrating the Blues’ recent State of Origin win, in which he named was man of the match.
Jennings is set to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday, July 20.
