THE estate where Frank Sinatra entertained his Rat Pack pals is on the market with a $5.1 million plus price tag.

The estate built by Sinatra and christened Villa Maggio as a tribute to the character he played in From Here to Eternity, is above the Movie Colony district in Palm Desert.

Marketing agent Frank Jackwerth of Hilton & Hyland said Sinatra had considered the home his personal sanctuary for 12 years.

He commissioned architect Ross Patton in 1967 to custom-design the retreat for his privacy and to entertain his celebrity friends and dignitaries.

Interest so far has come from potential buyers in the United States as well as Hong Kong.

The 2ha property has three buildings, a five-bedroom main house, a three-bedroom guesthouse and a sauna — pool house.

There is a floodlit tennis, basketball court, a fire pit, and a private helipad.

But if you don’t fly in by chopper there is still plenty of space for your car with 24 parking spaces.

The main house is made of wood and native stone and as well as five bedrooms has five and a half bathrooms, a formal dining room, living room, family den, and two full kitchens.

There are stone fireplaces and hardwood floors throughout the house.

The second building, a two-storey guesthouse has its own generator, water tower, and water well.

It has three separate suites each with a mini kitchen, bath, stone fireplace, and viewing deck.

The pool house has a stone fireplace, two bathrooms, mini-kitchen, two saunas and a large entertainment patio with fire pit.

Mr Jackwerth said the estate was perfect for entertaining.

“Frank Sinatra — the king of class and entertaining — certainly did it his way in creating this world-class estate,’’ he said.

He said the home had been meticulously preserved and maintained by the current owners, who were the only occupants since Sinatra owned the property.

There are two additional one hectare lots of land also available which are also for sale.
