AT least six women channelled their inner Kostya Tszyu in an all-in brawl that men stood and filmed on their mobile phones yet did not call the police.
The five-minute fight took place at a petrol station in east Detroit, Michigan, on May 22 which Detroit Police were only made aware of when Fox Detroit shared one of the videos.
Video of the fight starts with two young women throwing punches at each other near a white SUV before several more girls enter the fray and start kicking and pulling hair as a full-on fracas gets under way.
Eventually the women pair off into one-on-one battles in different parts of the petrol station as men look on and film.
A man who filmed the fracas on his mobile told Fox 2 that it was the wildest thing he had ever seen.
He said the women ended fighting on the hood of his vehicle, which suffered deep scratches.
“First, troubling,†Detroit Police Department Chief James Craig said on his reaction to the video.
“Ironically that was the very gas station that the captain of the 9th Precinct and I visited, because it was a problem location,†he told Fox Detroit.
“That’s a location where we’ve seen in excess of 90 calls over a three-month period. That’s a problem.â€
Craig said he had recommended changes to improve safety to the service station owners.
“I had a personal conversation with the manager/owner, with the captain, about expectations,†Craig said. “Talking about working together.â€
And he wanted to point out that the witnesses should have called police.
“What we want is stop, notify us so we can go and address the situation,†he said. “Right now we are looking into it. because I want to know with a brawl like that occurring, did anyone call the police.â€
