AN out-of-control car driven by an alleged drunk driver narrowly missed a pedestrian before it ploughed through a fence and into a home in Sydney’s southwest overnight.

The Holden Statesman left the road and became airborne before it rammed into the front bedroom of a house on Juno Pde, Greenacre about 9.20pm.

The driver, who was uninjured, fled on foot but was tracked down by the dog squad unit a short time later on Maiden St, Allum Park and arrested.

It is understood the occupants of the house had arrived home minutes before the crash and had been walking toward the front of the property as the car flew past them.

The owner of the house, who did not wish to be named, told The Daily Telegraph it had been a “very traumatic” experience.

The smash also catapulted a brick into a neighbouring home and through the bedroom wall of an 11-year-old girl.

The girl’s father, Shadi Haydar, said he was thankful his daughter was not in bed at the time.

“The brick came through right where my daughter sleeps,” Mr Haydar told The Daily Telegraph.

“We’re just so lucky she was not in the bed at the time.”

Mr Haydar, who has lived on Juno Pde for four years, said the road was a notorious hotspot for hoons.

“Just the other day a woman was speeding along the road and she became stuck (on the island that separates the traffic), there was a whole lots of us who had to lift the car off (the island),” he said.

“They drive so fast along here, they’re always speeding, it’s a real worry.”

The driver, 22, allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of .103. He was charged with a number of driving offences including negligent driving, drink driving, destroy or damage property and intimidate police.

The Bangor man was also charged in relation to the assault of a 21-year-old woman outside a property on Perina Close, Bangor earlier in the night. He was refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court today.
