A FIFTY Shades of Grey sequel is DEFINITELY happening — and it’s set to be a “thrillerâ€.
Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley was asked in an interview about the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, and the reported tensions between the studio, author E.L. James and director Sam Taylor-Johnson — who will not direct the follow-up.
“For the record, the movie we ended up making is exactly the movie I wanted to make and that the studio wanted to make and that our director wanted to make,†she said at The Hollywood Reporter’s Power Lawyers breakfast.
Talking about what to expect from the next instalment — which is slated for release in 2017 — she described it as “more of a thrillerâ€.
She also revealed that James’ husband, Niall Leonard — who will write the script to the sequel — helped write the first film.
“He actually did a draft that wasn’t credited on the first movie, and he did a really good job.â€
