PORT Stephens police will prepare a report for the coroner following the death of an eight-year-old boy on a property at Swan Bay Sunday afternoon.
It is the second tragic death of a child that has occurred in Port Stephens in the past week, coming four days after a seven-year-old boy died when the car he was travelling in crashed along Medowie road at Williamtown.
Emergency services were called to the property in Swan Bay about 12.30pm today, January 25.
Upon arriving, police were met by a man who directed them to an injured eight-year-old boy.
It’s believed the man, the boy's grandfather, was driving the tractor when his grandson became trapped underneath.
Ambulance paramedics were called.
However, the boy died at the scene.
The police report to the coroner will outline the full circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
