Where better than the island hideaway that was once Kylie Minogue’s retreat from prying eyes?
The restored farmstead at Lot 7 Mt Wellington Rd, French Island, is on the market for $1.295 million.

Known as Beauciel, French for beautiful sky, the property is a secluded escape on 20.23ha, just over two hours’ drive from Melbourne.
JP Dixon agent Hendrik Boer said the Minogue family sold the property about five years ago, after turning the original cottage into a luxury residence.

“They completely gutted and restored the house and it was very tastefully done,†Mr Boer said.
“It’s close to Melbourne but it’s very quiet.
“It’s 10 minutes on the ferry but it feels like being eight hours away.â€

Mr Boer said the tight-knit community of about 120 permanent residents had access to a general store, a primary school and locally grown produce including honey and wine.
“Most properties are quite large so everyone has their privacy at the same time,†he said.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home features beech floorboards and a country-style kitchen.

The main bedroom, with walk-in robe and ensuite, opens onto a private deck with an elevated outlook to Western Port.
A walled garden was part of the Minogue family’s restoration, giving the grounds a taste of the French countryside, Mr Boer said.
Fruit trees and vegetable gardens complete the idyllic setting.
