THE man who died in police custody after being tasered by police had been “mixing with the wrong crowd†but was trying to get his life back on track, his devastated brother says.
Kevin Norris, 38, died in police custody after being tasered by officers at a McDonald’s restaurant in Bowral in New South Wales’ Southern Highlands.
Police were called to the fast food restaurant shortly before 9.30pm on Sunday after Mr Norris claimed he had been attacked and then became engaged in a confrontation with officers.
He was arrested and taken to Bowral Police Station where he died a short time later.
“He had problems his whole life, mixing with the wrong crowd,†an emotional David Norris, 32, said.
“But a couple of years ago he started getting his life back on track and doing well for himself.†“He was working every day, got a licence, got his first car.†He said his big brother had just moved to Mittagong from Gunning, about 130km away, to be with his girlfriend.

“Police had cause to arrest a 38-year-old man who lives in Mittagong,†Mr Worboys said.
“It would have been a difficult situation inside that fast food restaurant.
“He was taken back to Bowral police station ... a short time later he died at the police station.â€
The assistant commissioner said the man had slumped to the floor during the confrontation which involved five officers.
Police provided CPR to Mr Norris and were assisted by ambulance officers when they reached the station, Mr Worboys said.
The was conscious when he was transported to the police station.
