ROTTNEST, Cottesloe and Karrinyup – these are the sights Perth-raised, international actress Melissa George has on her itinerary for her family holiday in WA.
With her self confessed “French lover†Jean-David Blanc and 10-month-old son Raphael in tow, George is the most recent WA export to arrive home for the festive season.
“It’s really exciting we are staying home,†she said.
“My French lover will be in Perth having a Perth Christmas.
“He’s my love and my life and the minute I laid my eyes on him, my life just went wow.â€
Arriving in Perth two days ago, a relaxed George said she had been lazing by her family pool all day.
During her three-week break from shooting in New York, George said she would be taking her family to see her favourite sights – Rottnest and John Street Cafe in Cottesloe.
“I’m going to take my man everywhere, all over, I might take him to Karrinyup,†she said.
“We might go and have a cappuccino and sandwich.
“I love it, mum’s taking me shopping.â€
George’s current project is one many Australians would recognise.
She said she was overjoyed to take on the role of Rosie again for the American adaptation of the controversial Australian series The Slap.
“I’m shooting right now in New York, in an incredible twist of fate,†she said.
“I got a call from the screen writer Robbie Bates, and he said ‘Melissa you’ve been haunting me for since months since I’ve been writing this show, will you reprise the role’,†she said.
While George said her home and heart was currently in France, when she came back to Perth she felt like everything was right.
“It’s like I’m going to be OK, I’m home,†she said.
If she isn’t spending quality time with her family, George said she could be found at the FutureFit Studios in Clarkson.
The supportive sister said she would be at the gym – owned by her sister-in-law Carrie George and brother Brett – most days.
“Time is precious, if you’re on holiday like I am,†she said.
“And I’ve got to show them how it’s done.â€
A fitness conscious George said she worked out up to four times a week.
And, while a healthy George follows a no grain diet, she said she couldn’t resist a slice of Bakers Delight bread while in Perth.
Melissa said she had trained a similar style of fitness in New York which uses movements similar to those used in everyday life.
“It’s the same technique I did for the Hunted and all the other roles I’ve done out of New York,†she said.
“It’s a concept which is first of its kind here and not only that they have a organic and healthy food bar.â€
Owner Carrie George said the studio had been gaining a lot of momentum within the industry.
“We have a lot of industry experience behind us so have seen what’s missing and want consumers want now, and tried to fill that void,†she said.
