A woman's body has been found in a house in Alice Springs in what police say are suspicious circumstances.

Police received a report that about 8am a 36-year-old woman's body was found in a house at Charles Creek camp.

The Southern Investigation Division and Major Crime Squad police are calling the death suspicious.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bedwell says police have spoken to a number of witnesses and they urge others who may have witnessed an argument in the area early on Saturday to contact them.
