CHRIS Rogers has steadied Australia’s run chase after David Warner (6) and Shane Watson (0) were dismissed cheaply on the stroke of tea on day four of the second Test at the Gabba.
Chasing 128 for victory and a 2-0 lead in the four Test series, Rogers produced a quickfire knock of 55 to leave Australia in the box seat to win before being dismissed.

Both Warner and Watson were caught behind off the bowling of Ishant Sharma, but the greater concern could Warner’s fitness after he copped a nasty knock to his left thumb while pushing forward to a Varun Aaron delivery that bounced a little higher than expected in the second over.
Watson, a duel Allan Border Medallist, bowled well in India’s second innings but is yet to reach a half century in the series and has averaged better than 40 in only one of his last 10 series.
After starting Saturday on 1-71, the tourists were all out for 224, with opener Shikhar Dhawan (81) and tailender Umesh Yadav (30) the only batsmen to show significant resistance.
India complained about the state of the practice wickets after Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli were injured before play.
Dhawan was struck on the wrist in the nets and did not resume his innings at the start of play.
