A MAN has been arrested and charged over 23 fires lit in the state’s west in the past five years.
A fire at Concongella burned through 10ha of land yesterday before being brought under control by CFA firefighters.
That blaze led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man, whose vehicle was intercepted in Bulguna.
He was later charged 23 deliberately lit fires in the Great Western and Concongella areas of Stawell Shire in the past five years.
The arrest followed a two-year investigation by detectives from Ararat CIU.
The man will appear in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
