TELSTRA has signed a $390 million contract to plan and design services to support the National Broadband Network rollout, for a term of up to four years.
Telstra (TLS) has estimated the gross contract value is approximately $390m, based on the estimate of the volume of work that will be awarded by NBN Co.
The deal was foreshadowed today in The Australian.
Telstra says the value will be dependent on the rate of progress in the NBN rollout and the outcome of future price reviews.
The work included preparing plans and designs to support the multi-technology mix of the NBN, including FTTN, fibre to the basement, and premises.
“We’re pleased to have won this work in a competitive market and we look forward to working with NBN Co to help it prepare for the construction of the next phase of the NBN,†said Telstra chief operations officer, Kate McKenzie.
Telstra said it also was having talks with NBN Co on the provision, construction and maintenance services of the broadband network.
