Ms Dawson was killed when the siege came to a bloody end just after 2am on Tuesday morning. It was reported last night early an ballistics report showed she had been shot by Monis and not police who stormed the cafe after hearing shots fired.

“She invested every moment of her life in her friends and family and will be greatly missed by everyone who has known her.”

The other victim, Tori Johnson, was also in her thoughts.

“Although our acquaintance was forged under the worst imaginable circumstances, I feel privileged to have known you and I will always remember you as a kind, considerate, level headed and courageous.”

It was clear to her how much he loved his family and the compassion he had. “I am grateful that you were with me throughout our ordeal.”

Ms Taylor was forced at gunpoint to make a video plea to Prime Minister Tony Abbott during the siege which was briefly posted on You Tube.

She could also be seen with her hands on her head through the windows of the Lindt cafe during the early hours of the hostage crisis.

She had been given strength by the huge amount of support she and the other hostages had received from Australians.

“My own visit to the memorial at Martin Place gave me a strength for the coming weeks which I thought I might not have, as have the messages and kindness that have been sent to me by everyone I know and many I don’t. It is good to know that none of us are alone.”

She and her husband had been told their unborn baby was unharmed.

“If all goes well, and there is no reason to think that it won’t, we will give birth to a precious baby in a few months.”
