Speaking toElle UK, the Irish model-turned- actor admits he needed a lesson in kinkiness to prepare for his role as S&M-loving billionaire Christian Grey in the highly-anticipted film.

“I went there, they offered me a beer, and they did…whatever they were into. I saw a dominant with one of his two submissives,” he said.

However, the smouldering actor confessed he found himself laughing at some points of the risqué evening.

“I was like ‘Come on guys I know I’m not paying for this but I am expecting a show.’ It was an interesting evening. Then going back to my wife and newborn baby afterwards…I had a long shower before touching either of them.”

Dornan is married to Amelia Warner and the pair have a one-year-old daughter.

Dakota Johnson also stars in the film adaptation of the bestselling erotic novel, which is being directed Sam Taylor-Johnson and set for release on Valentine’s Day.

Speculation on the film is runnign high, with the trailer quickly becoming one of the most-watched teasers ever after it was released online in June.

Dornan was famously cast in the plum role after Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam was forced to drop out over scheduling issues.

The former Calvin Klein model also stars as a serial killer in UK show The Fall, and had a role on TV series Once Upon a Time.
