Police have launched an investigation following the death of a woman on the NSW South Coast overnight.

About 10pm on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a home at Wells Place, Shoalhaven Heads, after a woman was found dead in a bathtub.

Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended and launched an investigation into the woman's death, which is being treated as suspicious.

A crime scene has been established at the location, which will be examined by detectives and specialist forensic officers.

Detectives are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information that could assist police, to contact Crime Stoppers.
