HERE they are: eight of the cutest clips that web users clicked on in 2014.
The website Storyful has gathered together these short films that went viral this year, starting with the above footage of goats “surfing†on a swaying sheet of metal. It’s been viewed 9.4 million times.
Clips of animal antics are, of course, part of the internet’s reason for being. Some 2.3 million viewers have watched this footage of artist Mel Striner’s pet pug going BALLISTIC when she added plastic balls to his play pen.
Sometimes, the cuteness is almost too much, as it is in the above home movie of an ickle-wickle hamster named Chicken, eating an ickle-wickle slice of pizza. Don’t feel bad about watching it: 3.1 million people have already beaten you to it.
Need more cuteness in your life? Einstein the Texan parrot impersonating actor Matthew McConaughey ought to fit the bill. It’s been viewed over half a million times.
But enough with the cutesy animal antics. Here’s something really sweet. American couple Kris and Kat wanted to share the news with their loved ones that they were expecting their baby, but in a way that would allow them to capture their friends’ reactions. Their solution is genius. (1.5 million viewers for that one.)
We can’t explain what’s going on here, but we’ve all had days like this. 180,000 views and counting.
And now we get serious, though no less heartwarming. Joanne Milne went through a life-changing operation to have cochlear implants fitted, and this video, already viewed by 2.8 million people, captures the emotional moment she hears for the first time. Get your hankies ready.
Then there’s this. Or as the millenials would say: THIS. A Belgian family comfort their father and grandfather, who is grieving the recent loss of his wife, with a puppy named Snoopy. We think you’ll agree the clip packs an emotional punch somewhere between ‘sweet’ and ‘devastating’. Six million viewers can’t be wrong.
